About Thomas
Thomas Payne has been drawing buildings for as long as he can remember.
As an Air Force kid living in Belgium, he was able to take a trip to France in the fifth grade. He was introduced to landmarks like the Eiffel Tower and Notre-Dame Cathedral. That was the beginning.
After studying architecture and graphic design at the University of Tennessee and the Art Institute of Atlanta, Thomas took a freelance job rendering sixteen new home plans for a nearby golf community. Nearly four decades and more than 4,000 architectural renderings later, he is still drawing buildings by hand.
His career has included works for builders, architects, developers, and designers, but some of his favorite projects have always been the most personal: custom portraits of homes and places that hold history for the people who live there.
Today, Thomas continues to create illustrations, private commissions, and personal work using the same tools and process that have defined his career— by hand, one line at a time.
